Accommodation

Wildman Wilderness Lodge

Situated on the beautiful Mary River Wetlands - around half way between Darwin and Kakadu - the Wildman Wilderness Lodge offers travellers the opportunity to explore this amazing region while staying in a choice of stylish eco lodge and safari tent accommodation. Wildman is a small-scale, high quality safari lodge, teeming with wildlife and wonderfully remote, yet with all the modern comforts of great accommodation, delicious meals and wine to enjoy at the end of each day.

Habitat Cabins

The indulgent Habitat Cabins offer unexpected comfort in this wilderness location. Surrounded by breathtaking nature, these well-appointed, beautifully designed free-standing cabins offer luxury in air-conditioned comfort. With luxurious bedding, premium furnishings and en suite bathrooms, the Habitats are the perfect respite after a day of adventure in the wilderness.

Habitat Cabins can accommodate a maximum of 2 people, double or twin share.

SAFARI TENTS

For those who seek a bit more adventure (needless to say, in style), this truly luxe Safari Tent experience is a premium offering. Each fan-cooled tent is surprisingly spacious at 50m² and comes complete with en suite bathroom. Natural colours and materials from the region have been utilised and reflect the surrounding environment, and the entire experience provides a closeness to the wilderness with all the romance of the ultimate hideaway.

DAY 2 | WEDNESDAY 9 SEPTEMBER 2020

2ND OF 5 NIGHTS AT WILDMAN WILDERNESS LODGE

MARY RIVER NATIONAL PARK:

After our buffet breakfast, the first full day at the Festival begins with the first of our Mid-Morning concerts. This features a performance from Festival artists along with a conversation and an audience Q&A with the musicians, along with our Artistic Director Anna Goldsworthy.

This afternoon we embark on a Bush Tucker Tour. The 2-hour walking tour starts close to home, as we meet under the shade of the Pandanus trees behind the Habitat Cabins. Here you will learn to identify 10 different food types found naturally in the surrounding environment, with an opportunity to taste them too. We then depart to find out more about this varied and rich landscape, home to creatures great and small.

Following the tour, the late afternoon is free to relax.

In the early evening we meet in the lodge for a pre-concert talk on the music we will hear this evening.

Following the pre-concert talk we gather on the deck of the lodge with a glass of wine, to take in the sight of the many wallabies and birds on the surrounding plains, before moving to the shade of the pandanus trees for the first of our full evening Festival performances, featuring a variety of our Festival musicians. The sky changes colour as the sun sets throughout the concert, and at its conclusion we move inside to the lodge for our 3-course a la carte dinner.

After returning from the Billabong Cruise, and after our delicious buffet breakfast, we enjoy the second of our Mid-Morning concerts, preceded by a conversation with artists from the Festival.

Following the Mid-Morning concert, guests are able to relax in the afternoon and soak in the magnificence of the surroundings.

In the early evening we meet in the lodge for a pre-concert talk on the music we will hear this evening.

Famous for its rock art, you will also see panoramic views of the surrounding floodplains and escarpments. Please note: there is a short climb from the parking area to Ubirr Rock of around 1km, up a gentle but rocky incline. Please wear comfortable walking shoes, a hat and plenty of sunscreen.

We will then enjoy a tasty picnic lunch near the East Alligator River, followed by a short walk to Cahills Crossing to spot one of the many local crocodiles that inhabit this area. The last stop in the Park is at the Mamukala Observation Platform for stunning views over the wetlands and an incredible variety of birdlife.
