Elizabeth Hayllar has enjoyed an international career working and touring with the world’s greatest orchestras and artists, collaborating with renowned opera houses and festivals. Drawing on her vast experience she crafts expertly planned tours which provide guests with unique and unforgettable experiences of classical music as well as rich encounters with history, art, architecture and culture.
During her time at London-based international classical music agency Intermusica Artists’ Management, Elizabeth managed high-profile orchestral and choral tours around the world. This work relied upon close collaborative working relationships with the world’s most respected and renowned orchestras, choirs, festivals and classical music venues including: in the UK - the London Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, Choir of King’s College, Cambridge, Edinburgh International Festival, London’s Barbican and Southbank Centre; in Asia - Hong Kong Arts Festival, Beijing Music Festival, National Centre for the Performing Arts Beijing, Shanghai Grand Theatre and Singapore Esplanade; and in continental Europe - the Budapest Festival Orchestra, Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, Berlin Festival, Gergiev Rotterdam Festival, Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Théatre des Champs-Élysées, Budapest Palace of Arts and the Vienna Konzerthaus.
Elizabeth holds a First Class Honours degree in Music and in Arts from the University of New South Wales.
The 4-star Ville Resort, Townsville, is superbly located, with stunning views of iconic Castle Hill, Magnetic Island and the Coral Sea. It is just a short walk to the Magnetic Island Ferry terminal, the CBD, the restaurant precincts of Palmer and Flinders Streets and the Strand, a 2.2km palm tree lined beachfront promenade. The Ville Resort includes an exciting assortment of restaurants, bars and cafes, including The Palm House Pizzeria, Miss Songs, providing classic Chinese cuisine fused with South East Asian influences, and the Spin Café, offering casual meals and snacks. The Quarterdeck and Splash Bars serve drinks with spectacular uninterrupted views of Magnetic Island. There is a luxurious resort pool and a gymnasium.

1ST OF 5 NIGHTS AT THE VILLE RESORT, TOWNSVILLE
ARRIVE TOWNSVILLE & THE AUSTRALIAN FESTIVAL OF CHAMBER MUSIC:
Guests arrive at the stylish Ville Resort Townsville, superbly located with panoramic views of Magnetic Island, the Coral Sea, Castle Hill and Townsville City, and just a short walk to the Strand, a 2.2km palm tree lined beachfront promenade. Hotel check-in is at 2:00pm and we recommend arriving at this time.
At 4:00pm we attend welcome drinks followed by our first pre-concert talk by our Tour Leader, Elizabeth Hayllar. We then travel by private coach and enjoy a delicious pre-concert dinner where we have the exclusive opportunity to dine with some of the musicians performing in the festival. After this we attend the Opening Night concert of the Australian Festival of Chamber Music at 7:30pm.

Following this, the early afternoon is free. In your free time in Townsville you might like to explore some of the city’s attractions: the Museum of Tropical Queensland, only a 15-minute stroll from our hotel, is a museum of natural history, archaeology and history, where you can explore a shipwreck, dive on the Great Barrier Reef and visit a rainforest all in one day; or the Perc Tucker Regional Gallery, Townsville's premier regional art gallery, only a 20-minute walk from our hotel, which offers a dynamic range of local, national and international exhibitions; or the Townsville Palmetum, which provides attractive scenic walks through one of the largest and most diverse assemblies of palms in the world.
In the afternoon we travel by private coach to Townsville Civic Theatre where Elizabeth Hayllar will give her second talk about the music we will hear in this evening’s concerts. We then attend the first AFCM Illuminates event at 3:30pm. At 5:00pm we attend the first concert in the festival’s Sunset Series. We then enjoy dinner and at 7:30pm attend the Governor’s Gala.

Marek Kowalkiewicz is a Professor and Chair in Digital Economy at QUT Business School, listed among the Top 100 Global Thought Leaders in Artificial Intelligence by thinkers360. He is the author of The Economy of Algorithms: AI and the Rise of the Digital Minions. In this session, he will discuss how AI is already reshaping our daily lives and artistic expressions, highlighting the advanced, yet current, applications of these technologies that might seem very futuristic but are very much a part of our present reality.

AUSTRALIAN FESTIVAL OF CHAMBER MUSIC:
Today we have the pleasure of attending the annual AFCM Island Concert on spectacular Magnetic Island. The day will begin with a whale watching tour which will end at Peppers Resort on Magnetic Island. We will enjoy brunch and a concert on the deck at Peppers. After the concert there will be time to take in the island or perhaps have a swim before travelling together by ferry back to Townsville.
